Launch of the OPAL Air Survey
The OPAL national Air Survey is launched on 29/9/09. This survey uses nine types of tree lichen and Sycamore Tar Spot as bioindicators of local air pollution levels. If you are interested in doing a survey, or would like to host a survey in your local green space, then please contact Adam at team@opalwestmidlands.org. All you need are some tree lichens and/or some Sycamore trees; this survey does not require access to woodland as lichens prefer sunny conditions found on the woodland edge, or on stand-alone trees.
