Money available from BOSF in 2006
Are you a “friends” group that needs
more members?
Birmingham Community Empowerment
Network (BCEN) provided
us with a grant of £7,500 to share
amongst BOSF members to use to get
more people involved in their groups.
How does it work?
Each group completed a very
simple application form and attended a
workshop at which all the groups that
made an application decided
who should get what money.
At the end of the workshop all successsful groups walked away with a cheque -
no waiting.
We wanted to see applications
that added to existing work,
rather than new projects.
For example this money could:
- pay for an event at which you celebrate
your achievements
- get a newsletter printed or more
newsletters than you can usually afford
- get a leaflet printed in colour
- hire a hall for a meeting rather than
use someone’s house
- provide food to make a meeting inviting
to more people
As we had no idea how many people
will apply for the money our suggestion
is to be flexible in your application:-
you may need to reduce what you
want to do or even increase what you
could do if fewer people apply.
There is a maximum of
6 months to spend the
money and will need to
show receipts (where relevant)
and some evidence of
your activity eg a copy of the
newsletter or photos of the
event.
The workshop was held on Tuesday
21st November 2006
Applications closed on Monday 13th November 2006.
